It’s officially spring and we are excited to announce the launch of our very first annual Northern Utah 3-inch Orthoimagery project. Developed to bring the cities of Northern Utah a superior yet affordable imagery service, our program offers high resolution 3-inch orthoimagery on a consistent annual basis with no commitments and no cumbersome paperwork.
Because we are locally owned and operated, we immediately began flying our 2017 orders in mid-March when skies cleared and the snow had melted. The images were captured during leaf-off conditions to provide our clients a clear view of the ground beneath the tree canopy, which in late spring through fall can obscure infrastructure and other important mapping features. As always, we ensured that all acquired images were free of smoke, haze, cloud shadows, and other undesirable artifacts.
All flights for our 2017 orders were successfully completed in March and we are now preparing the imagery for delivery to our clients. Each image will be color balanced, orthorectified, and georeferenced to NAD 83 State Plane coordinates by our ASPRS Certified Photogrammetrists. The final 4-band (RGBI) mosaicked tiles will be free of visible seam lines, horizontally accurate to within 6 inches, and delivered in GeoTIFF and MrSID formats.
Typical Use for 3-inch Orthoimagery
Our custom 3-inch orthoimagery is ideal for a variety of applications including: urban planning and zoning, land development, transportation/transmission corridor projects, utility/pipeline mapping, civil engineering, and asset management. Key features that 3-inch imagery improves over 6-inch include: curbs and gutters, single trees and shrubs, utilities (manholes, fire hydrants, etc.), transportation paint lines, power and light poles, and billboard and traffic signs.
Get Ready for 2018!
We are extremely pleased with the success of this project thus far. We expect it to grow each year as more organizations discover the benefits of receiving annually updated, high resolution 3-inch orthoimagery from an experienced local provider. If you are interested in learning more about our services or if you would like to see samples from this year’s project, please enter your email below to receive updates. We will begin taking orders for 2018 as soon as September 2017, but now is a good time to assess your future imagery needs and begin planning for next year’s budget.
